About The Photos

This fabulous collection of old photographs comes from a variety of sources, but I got them through the generosity of my former Skipper in the Flying Cloud (SSS128), Thomas Bamberger, who is in the yellow foul weather gear in the photo below taken at the Sea Scout Base at the foot of Van Ness Street in San Francisco.

As lovely as the photos are to look at, they’d be even more enjoyable if we knew a bit more about them, when they were taken, where they were taken, what boats are visible, who are the Sea Scouts present. To achieve that goal, I’ve posted the photos here. Each photo has a number,. When you comment and tell us what you know about the photo, please refer to the photo number. Your comments will be visible for other visitors to read and, in time, I hope that we will have a complete description to go with each photo.

Please have a look at each and every photo here and, if you know some details or have a story to tell, post a comment.

When you post a comment, you will be asked your name,  what ship you were in, what years, and your email address. Your name, ship, and years will be published on your comment. Your email address will not be published or used in anyway without your permission. (For example, I might use it to ask you if I could pass it along to one of your shipmates.)

I sincerely hope that you will enjoy looking at these photos and reliving some of the wonderful memories that we all share from our years together in the San Francisco Sea Scouts.
